Circuit Magazine

For Security & Protection Specialists

  • First of all, plan ahead and study the industry you want to work in (CP or Marsec etc..)

  • What is your background? Are you former military or civilian?

  • What qualifications do you have and do you have the necessary qualifications to enter the CP/Marsec industry?

  • Study and assess your own profile. – If you have no military background do you really have enough qualifications and knowledge to target the Hostile Environment CP industry?

  • Keep in mind that other operators applying for HE jobs often have + 10 years military experience with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • The aim is to get yourself into employment quickly, dreaming of something that isn’t going to happen will waste your time.

  • There are always exceptions but they are a minority and it is better sticking to realistic goals if you want to be employed fast.

  • Be realistic. Make sure you have the right qualifications. Most job posts give clear indications on the qualifications needed in order to apply. Sending a CV without the required qualifications is the first step towards getting a bad reputation.

  • Once you have realistically defined where your profile, background and qualifications can take you, you should now plan accordingly – it is much easier to search when you know what you are looking for.

Transferable Skillsets from Nightclub Security Professionals

In fact I would venture to say that one should almost seek out the experience before pursuing some of those paths. I say this because within the walls of that club you encounter such a vast amount of people, cultures, and potential threats, and to meet all these challenges, the nightclub security professional must be well equipped and prepared physically and mentally. In order to get the best out of these encounters it’s important to understand the skills required, and the skills that are being developed every time you step behind the velvet rope.

Medical Considerations for the Protective Service Detail

Protective Medical Services

As protectors, the Executive Protection (EP) community is comprised of “Alpha-type” personalities who are well skilled and tend to focus on the “direct action” skillsets of the EP mission, the so-called “hard skills”. But EP is more. It is full-time customer service also. EP agents serve their clients and their family members in a variety of ways, many of which were probably not envisioned while on the shooting range. Driving course or dojo.

In today’s dangerous environment, security professionals must understand the hostile surveillance threat and advise clients regarding the appropriate countermeasures to protect against these invasive efforts.

Hostile Surveillance Threats

The average citizen has security concerns and can benefit from an understanding of the concepts of surveillance countermeasures that enhance personal protection. However, the application of surveillance countermeasures without a sound perspective regarding the threat-specific surveillance techniques they are intended to defeat can be counterproductive, and potentially dangerous. For this reason, the practitioner of surveillance countermeasures must think like a surveillance operator in order to anticipate how an operator would act based on specific circumstances.

The Anatomy of a Bank Robbery

Even as banks deal with the fallout of the pandemic, bank robberies on the whole since Covid-19 are actually down. Anti-Surveillance Measures When Mobile

Anti-surveillance is defined as the actions that a person would take or do, in order to detect if surveillance is present. The person is aiming to draw the surveillance in by generating two things; multiple sightings and unnatural behaviour. As with our foot anti-surveillance drills, when mobile in a vehicle, these drills can also be covert and subtle or overt where it obvious to the followers what you are doing.

Protective Surveillance

With each client, the situation and threat level will vary, as will their requirements and appetite. When it comes to security there are a myriad of options available, often (and hopefully) with multiple, complementary components working together in harmony. One weapon in the personal protection armory is Protective Surveillance. This article attempts to provide a comprehensive overview of a service that has multiple benefits, quite a few limitations and several misrepresentations.
